The Guide TU635P 3.0 puts a 640 × 512, 12 μm thermal sensor rated at 18 mK behind a 35 mm F0.9 lens with the laser rangefinder built into the objective, and shows the image on a 1.03-inch 2560 × 2560 AMOLED display. Next to the TU635L, which pairs the same sensor format and 18 mK rating with a 35 mm F1.0 lens, it moves to F0.9 from F1.0, to the 2560 × 2560 display from 1920 × 1080, to 60 mm of eye relief from 48 mm and to a 14-hour battery rating from more than 6 hours. The TU635L ranges farther (1,500 m against 1,000 m) and is lighter (785 g against 850 g).
Key Features
- 640 × 512 thermal sensor. Guide's uncooled VOx detector works across the 8 to 14 μm band at a 12 μm pitch, with an 18 mK rating and a 50 Hz frame rate, and Guide processes the picture with its Hyper Light image algorithm. Guide rates the TU635P's detection range at 2,600 m (2,800 yd).
- Rangefinder inside the objective. Guide integrates the laser rangefinder into the objective lens, which it says reduces the scope's overall size and "eliminates parallax error for maximum ranging accuracy." It ranges to 1,000 m (1,090 yd), and a short press of Key B turns ranging on.
- Large square display. The 1.03-inch 2560 × 2560 AMOLED sits behind an eyepiece with 60 mm of eye relief and a -5 to +5 diopter. Magnification starts at 2.6x and reaches 20.8x with 8x digital zoom, across a 12.5° × 10.0° field that covers 22 × 17 m at 100 m.
- Shutter-free imaging. Guide builds the TU 3.0 series on a shutter-free design, adopted, in Guide's words, "for immersive hunting without interference."
- Two built-in cells and a replaceable 18650. Two 18650 cells are built in, and the battery compartment takes a replaceable 18650, for a rated 14 hours. Two replaceable cells come in the box, and Guide says "the replaceable standard 18650 batteries support hot swapping."
- Recording with sound. A short press of Key A takes a photo and a long press records video, with audio from the built-in microphone, to 128 GB of memory. A USB-C cable moves the files to a computer.
- Built for recoil and weather. Guide specifies 6,000 J of shock resistance "to withstand recoil," an IP68 seal and an operating range of -4°F to 122°F (-20°C to 50°C).
- Central focus and zoom. A centrally placed focusing knob and a zoom knob set focus and magnification, and turning the function knob switches between seven color palettes from the live view: White Hot, Black Hot, Red Hot, Green Hot, Iron Red, Blue Hot and Sepia.
- App and remote. Dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 and 5 GHz) connects Guide's TargetIR app, which shows the scope's live image on a phone and lets you control the scope from it. Bluetooth pairs Guide's optional remote control.
Ideal For
- Hunters in thick cover and short sight lines, where the 12.5° × 10.0° field at 2.6x covers about twice the area of the 8.8° × 7.0° field on the 50 mm TU650P.
- Long sits and back-to-back nights, on a 14-hour rating with replaceable 18650 cells that Guide says can be swapped hot.
- Hunters who film their hunts and want video with sound, 128 GB of storage and a live view on a phone.
- Shooters moving up from a 0.49-inch 1080p scope, who want the 1.03-inch 2560 × 2560 display and 60 mm of eye relief.
TU635P, TU635LS or TU650P. The TU635LS shares this scope's 35 mm F0.9 lens, 2560 × 2560 display, 60 mm of eye relief, 14-hour rating and 128 GB of storage, with a 15 mK sensor and a 1,200 m rangefinder. The TU650P puts the same 640 × 512 sensor and 18 mK rating behind a 50 mm F0.9 lens, for a 3.7x start, an 8.8° × 7.0° field, a 1,500 m rangefinder and 256 GB of storage.
Accessories & Compatibility
The TU635P has a standard 30 mm tube and comes with Guide's quick-release scope mount. Guide offers a Bluetooth remote control and spare 18650 batteries as optional accessories.
