How to choose an LPVO
Top magnification
The ranges here run from 1-4x on the Alpen Kodiak and 1-4.5x on the Athlon Helos BTR to 1-8x on the Argos BTR GEN3 and 1-10x on the Helos BTR GEN2 and Ares ETR GEN2 UHD. A 1-6x, the most common, covers close quarters under about 300 yards.
Focal plane
Most LPVOs here are second focal plane, which keeps the reticle a consistent, visible size at 1x for fast acquisition. The Alpen Apex 1-6x24 and the Ares ETR GEN2 UHD 1-10x24 are first focal plane, so their marks stay true across the zoom.
Weight, tube and travel
Weights run from 16.1 oz for the Argos BTR GEN3 1-8x24 to 26.9 oz for the Ares ETR GEN2 UHD 1-10x24, on 30 mm tubes except the 34 mm Helos BTR GEN2 1-10x28 and Ares ETR. The Kite B6 1-6x24, at 17.1 oz, has the widest field, 120 ft at 100 yards, and the Midas BTR GEN2 HD 1-6x24 the most elevation travel in Athlon's range, 150 MOA.

FFP or SFP on an LPVO?

What mount does an LPVO need?
