Steiner Optics

Steiner has built rugged optics in Bayreuth, Germany since 1947, when Karl Steiner set out to make binoculars that survive the field rather than the display case. Now part of the Beretta Holding group, Steiner builds durable, high-contrast binoculars for boaters, hunters, and professionals.

The Steiner Heritage Lifetime Warranty gives transferable lifetime coverage against manufacturing defects, with 3 years on electronic components; registration is optional.

Why choose Steiner

  • Built for hard use. Sealed, impact-resistant housings in NBR Long Life rubber armor. The BluHorizons is rainproof to IPX4 rather than sealed.
  • Sports-Auto-Focus. On the Navigator, Commander, Military-Marine, NightHunter and T750 you set each eyepiece once, and Steiner says everything from about 66 feet out then stays sharp with no focus wheel.
  • Fast-Close-Focus. The center-focus BluHorizons and Tactical T1042, T1028 and T824 focus quickly on nearer subjects.
  • Coatings. Predator Diamond Coating on the Predator, and Diamond Night on the NightHunter, which Steiner rates at over 96 percent light transmission.

The Steiner range

  • Marine: the Navigator 7x30 and 7x50, each with or without a compass, and the Commander 7x50 and 7x50c.
  • Hunting: the Predator 8x42, 10x42 and 15x56, the NightHunter 8x56 for the last light, and the ePredator LRF 10x42 with a laser rangefinder.
  • Tactical: the Military-Marine 8x30, 7x50 and 10x50, and the T-series from the pocket T824 to the full-size T750.
  • Everyday: the BluHorizons 10x26 and 10x42.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Steiner is best for boating?

For most boaters, the Navigator 7x50: 7x keeps a boat's motion manageable, the 50 mm objectives give a 7.1 mm exit pupil for dusk, and Sports-Auto-Focus leaves nothing to turn at the helm.

Does Sports-Auto-Focus ever need focusing?

You set each eyepiece to your eyes once, ideally while looking at the distance you watch most. After that the view stays sharp from about 66 feet out, but it does not suit close-range viewing.

Predator 8x42 or 10x42?

The 8x42 for a wider field, 375 ft at 1,000 yards, and a brighter view at dusk; the 10x42, at 324 ft, for more reach.
