The Explore Scientific 2" 3x Focal Extender triples magnification through a full 2" light path, pushing wide-field eyepieces into high-power territory without sacrificing their illuminated field or eye relief. A 30mm 2" eyepiece becomes a 10mm equivalent with the same comfortable viewing position — ideal for planetary detail work with premium glass.

The telecentric 4-element optical design with EMD-enhanced multi-coatings on all air-to-glass surfaces delivers flatter fields and sharper edge performance than conventional Barlow lenses. Edge-blackened elements suppress stray light for clean contrast on bright targets like Jupiter and the Moon. Magnification stays consistent regardless of spacing in the optical path — important for imaging rigs with accessories between the extender and camera.

The highest magnification factor available in 2" format. Threaded for 2" astronomy filters, and a 1.25" eyepiece adapter is included for full compatibility with both barrel sizes.

Key Features
  • 4-element telecentric optical design with EMD-enhanced fully multi-coated optics
  • Triples magnification through a full 2" light path — no field cutoff on wide-angle eyepieces
  • Highest magnification factor available in a 2" focal extender
  • Includes 1.25" eyepiece adapter for dual-format compatibility
  • Threaded for 2" astronomy filters

Ideal For
  • Observers with premium 2" eyepieces — extract maximum magnification from wide-field glass without stepping down to a 1.25" optical path
  • Planetary and lunar observers — reach high power through a large-format light path for bright, high-contrast views
  • H-alpha solar observers — telecentric design is well-suited for etalon-based solar filters that require parallel light rays
