For PMC-Eight and EXOS mounts
The USB power bank, 8,300 mAh with a red LED flashlight, delivers 12V DC at up to 6 A for GoTo mounts and 5V USB for phones and tablets. A 10-foot dual plug Y-cable, DB9 FTDI and USB 2.0 Mini B, connects a PMC-Eight mount to a computer for ASCOM control and firmware updates. A 5 lb counterweight slides onto the EXOS-2 counterweight shaft.
For the iEXOS-100
The azimuth adjuster adds smooth, repeatable control for polar alignment, and the polar finder kit adds the illuminated polar scope the mount lacks.
For cameras and Dobsonians
The 280 mm Vixen-style camera dovetail plate puts any camera with a tripod socket on a tracking mount, with a 1/4-20 bolt and a 3/8-16 adapter. The counterweight set, two 2.5 lb weights, balances an Explore Scientific truss Dobsonian when a heavy eyepiece or finder makes the top end heavy.
For binoculars
The Alpen and Athlon tripod adapters put a tripod-adaptable binocular on a camera tripod. Alpen made its adapter for its own narrow-bridge binoculars, and it fits any binocular with a front adapter hole.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why balance a mount?
An unbalanced mount makes the drive motors work against gravity, which costs tracking accuracy.
How long does the power bank run a mount?
About 8 hours on an iEXOS-100 in Explore Scientific's tests.
Will the camera plate fit my mount?
It is a Vixen-style dovetail, so it fits any mount saddle that takes Vixen-style plates.
What does the dual plug do?
It links a PMC-Eight mount to a computer for ASCOM communications and firmware updates, and connects two devices at once, with 18 feet between the ends.
