Athlon Optics Cronus G2 UHD 15x56 Binoculars

Glassing distant ridgelines and open country for game at 15x demands a binocular purpose-built for tripod-mounted observation, not a handheld unit pressed into service. The Athlon Cronus G2 UHD 15x56 pairs 15x magnification and a 56mm objective with Athlon's flagship UHD glass, E2ES field flattening, and a magnesium chassis designed specifically for extended tripod sessions where detail at extreme range is the priority.

Key Features

• 15x magnification with a 56mm objective — the magnification to judge antler points, count tines, and evaluate trophy quality at 1,000+ yards, combined with a large objective that gathers enough light to keep the image bright through the power. On a tripod, 15x gives enough reach to replace a spotting scope in many situations, without the extreme mirage sensitivity and narrow field of view that comes with 18x+
• UHD extra-low-dispersion glass with advanced fully multi-coated lenses — the same optical glass platform as the Cronus G2 10x42, delivering virtually zero chromatic fringing on high-contrast edges even at 15x
• E2ES edge-to-edge field flattening system keeps the image sharp from center to edge, so you can scan across your field of view without constant refocusing, a critical feature for binoculars that will be glassing the same hillside for hours at a time
• ESP dielectric coating on phase-corrected Abbe-Koenig prisms reflects over 99% of light through the prism assembly for vivid brightness and contrast, extending your usable glassing time into dawn and dusk
• Magnesium alloy chassis — lighter than aluminum at equivalent strength, argon purged, and fully waterproof for backcountry use in rain, snow, and temperature swings
• 18.5mm eye relief with twist-up eyecups and multiple stop positions: comfortable for extended glassing sessions, including with eyeglasses
• Hard carrying case included — protecting your investment in the field and during transport

Ideal For

Western big-game hunters who glass open basins, sage flats, and mountain ridgelines from a tripod. The 15x magnification lets you evaluate trophy quality, read body language, and plan stalks at distances where a 10x42 can only confirm "something's there." Paired with a 10x42 on a chest harness, the smaller binocular handles walk-and-glass transitions and the 15x56 the dedicated glassing sessions from a fixed position.

Coues deer hunters — a 15x56 suits glassing brushy desert hillsides for the smallest whitetail subspecies, and Coues deer hunting is almost entirely a glassing game.

Astronomy and nature observers who want a large-aperture binocular for tripod-mounted stargazing. The 56mm objectives and UHD glass resolve star clusters, lunar detail, and bright deep-sky objects with minimal chromatic aberration. The 15x magnification provides enough power for meaningful astronomical observation while remaining manageable on a standard photo tripod.

Important: 15x binoculars amplify hand shake significantly: a binocular tripod adapter and tripod (such as the Athlon Midas AL28) are strongly recommended for any session longer than a few minutes. At 45.2 ounces, the Cronus G2 15x56 is designed for stationary glassing from a fixed position, not all-day neck carry.
