The Guide TB650P 2.0 is a 640 × 512 thermal clip-on with its laser rangefinder built into a 50 mm F0.9 objective, in a 490 g body that mounts ahead of your day scope. Guide rates it for daylight optics up to 15x. Next to our TB1260LS, which steps up to a 1280 × 1024 sensor behind a 60 mm lens with a 1,200 m rangefinder, the TB650P 2.0 keeps the 640 sensor at about two-thirds of the weight (490 g against 740 g).
Key Features
- Rangefinder in the objective. Guide moves the rangefinder into the objective lens, which it says minimizes parallax error. Guide's quick start guide and manual give a ranging distance of up to 1,000 m.
- 640 × 512 sensor at 18 mK. The 12 µm sensor runs at 50 Hz behind the 50 mm F0.9 lens, with an 8.8° × 6.6° field and a 2,600 m detection rating.
- 1x by design. Guide lists the TB650P 2.0 at 1x, so it adds no magnification of its own and the day scope's magnification sets the view.
- Shutterless imaging. The TB 2.0 series uses Guide's G-Zero shutterless technology and Hyper-light image enhancement. Guide keeps a shutter module for image quality at startup and through large temperature changes.
- Overlay zeroing. Guide's manual describes zeroing the clip-on in overlay mode, with zero settings at five distances, and Guide gives 1.22 cm at 100 m click adjustments for the series.
- Shot-triggered recording. After each shot the TB650P 2.0 records a clip from 5 seconds before the recoil to 10 seconds after, plus 5 photos, with audio, to 64 GB of storage.
- 0.39-inch 1920 × 1080 AMOLED. The eyepiece display has 20 mm of eye relief. A front focus knob sets focus, and zoom works when the unit is used handheld.
- One replaceable 18650. A single replaceable 18650 cell is rated for 5 hours, and USB-C supplies external power. Two batteries and a charger come in the box.
- Built for recoil and weather. Rated to withstand recoil up to 6,000 J, sealed to IP68 and specified for -4°F to 122°F (-20°C to 50°C).
- App and palettes. Dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 and 5 GHz) links the TargetIR app, Bluetooth and a microphone are built in, and seven thermal palettes are available: White Hot, Black Hot, Red Hot, Green Hot, Iron Red, Blue Hot and Sepia.
Ideal For
- Hunters who want thermal on the rifle they already shoot: clip it ahead of the day scope and take it off without touching the day scope's zero.
- Night hog and predator hunters who want ranging at the eyepiece without carrying a second device.
- Owners of a day scope up to 15x, the limit Guide gives for the TB 2.0 series.
TB650P 2.0 or TB1260LS. The TB1260LS carries a 1280 × 1024 sensor behind a 60 mm F1.0 lens, a 1,200 m rangefinder and two 18650 cells for 6 hours. The TB650P 2.0 keeps a 640 × 512 sensor and a 50 mm F0.9 lens, runs 5 hours on one cell and weighs 490 g against 740 g.
Accessories & Compatibility
Mounting hardware is not in the box: Guide sells a QD Picatinny mount for the TB650 2.0 (TBPICA2.0) separately. With a second focal plane day scope, zero at the magnification you hunt at, because any misalignment between clip-on and day scope grows with magnification.
