Explore Scientific 10" f/4.7 Dobsonian Telescope

The Explore Scientific 10" f/4.7 Dobsonian delivers the deep-sky reach of a large aperture in a straightforward, ready-to-observe package. Its 254mm parabolic mirror gathers over 1,300 times the light of the unaided eye, enough to resolve spiral galaxy arms, reveal nebula structure invisible in smaller scopes, and pull globular clusters apart into individual stars. At f/4.7, the fast optics serve up wide, bright fields that make deep-sky sweeping a pleasure. For observers who've outgrown their current telescope and want the faint detail at the edge of visibility, this scope delivers a meaningful leap in performance without adding complexity.

Key Features

• Massive 254mm parabolic mirror — gathers over 1,300x the light of the unaided eye, pulling faint galaxies, nebulae, and star clusters out of the darkness with excellent contrast and sharp detail
• Fast f/4.7 optics — wide, bright fields ideal for scanning large nebulae, Milky Way star fields, and extended objects that smaller, slower scopes struggle to frame
• A real step up from 8" — roughly 50% more light-gathering means you'll see spiral arms in galaxies, subtle nebula detail, and resolved stars in globular cluster cores that an 8" scope only hints at
• Smooth 2" Crayford focuser — backlash-free focusing with a 1.25" adapter for full eyepiece compatibility
• Spring-tension Dobsonian base — maintains balance when you swap eyepieces or add accessories, with smooth manual tracking that lets you follow targets by hand
• Durable rolled-steel construction — rigid tube; collimation can shift in transport, and a touch-up takes only a few minutes
• Two-piece, one-person carry — under 46 lbs total (a 24.2 lb tube and a 21.5 lb base), making one-person setup and car loading practical
• Smartphone adapter included — start capturing views of the Moon, Jupiter, and Saturn with your phone camera right away
• Simple two-piece design — tube lifts off the base for transport; no truss assembly, no shroud, no alignment steps between you and the sky

Ideal For

• Upgraders from 6" or 8" scopes ready to see what they've been missing: spiral galaxy arms, finer nebula structure, and resolved globular cluster cores
• Visual deep-sky observers who want a large aperture in a solid-tube, no-fuss design
• Observers who value simplicity — no GoTo alignment, no truss setup, just set down the base, drop in the tube, and start observing
• Dark-sky travelers who need a scope that breaks down into two manageable pieces for the drive to their favorite observing site
• Outreach groups and astronomy clubs who want a powerful visual platform that's straightforward for volunteers and guests to use
