When the dog starts barking at the dark end of the yard, or something moves along the field edge before you can find it in your binoculars, a small thermal shows you what is there. The PARD Leopard 256 16mm is a 256 × 192 thermal monocular measuring 172 × 36 × 48 mm and weighing 10.58 oz without its battery, sized for one hand, and PARD rates it to detect at 800 m. Its 16 mm lens starts at 2.9x with an 11° × 8.2° field, digital zoom steps up to 8x, and photos and video save to 32 GB of built-in storage.
Key Features
- 256 × 192 at ≤25 mK. An uncooled vanadium oxide (VOx) detector with 12 μm pixels and a 50 Hz frame rate. PARD processes the image with its IREA engine, an image enhancement algorithm that corrects distortion and raises contrast to bring out detail.
- 2.9x with digital zoom to 8x. The 16 mm lens shows an 11° × 8.2° field. The 2.9x base magnification is optical; the digital zoom steps of 2x, 4x, 6x and 8x enlarge the pixels at the center of the image, which makes the subject look bigger without adding detail. The Leopard 256 11mm opens the field to 15.9° × 12° at 2x, with a 500 m detection rating.
- 1024 × 768 OLED eyepiece. 20 mm of eye relief, a -5 to +5 diopter, three scene modes (City, Rain and Forest) and five image modes (WT-HOT, BK-HOT, RD-HOT, IN-HOT and SKY).
- Built-in recording. Photos (.JPG) and video (.MP4) at 1024 × 768 save to 32 GB of built-in eMMC storage.
