Walking out from an evening stand after dark, you want to know what is standing in the field before you cross it. The Guide TE211 is a pocket-sized way to check: a 256 × 192, 12 μm thermal sensor behind a focus-free 10 mm F1.0 lens, in a 228 g monocular with nothing to focus. Guide rates its detection range at 500 m (550 yd).
Key Features
- Wide, focus-free view. The 10 mm lens covers 17.5° × 13.1° (31 × 23 m at 100 m) from a 1.2x base magnification, with no focus ring to set. The eyepiece diopter adjusts from -5 to +5.
- One button, one ring. Turn the ring to open the menu and press the button to select, or set the button as a shortcut to zoom, photo, video or palette.
- Zoom and image tools. Digital zoom steps through 1x, 2x and 4x (1.2x to 4.8x). The menu adds picture-in-picture, hot track on the warmest point, three scene modes and seven palettes.
- No laser, a stadiametric estimate. With no laser rangefinder, the TE211 estimates distance from two lines on the screen and the target's assumed height.
- Recording and the app. Photos and video with sound go to 16 GB, and dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 and 5 GHz) streams the live image to the TargetIR app, which can also run the monocular and update its firmware.
- Built-in battery, quick charge. Guide rates the battery at 6 hours and says 20 W quick charging gives an hour of use from a 10-minute charge. USB-C charges it and can also power the monocular.
- Sealed for weather. IP67, rated to operate from -4°F to 122°F.
Ideal For
- Checking before you move. Scan the field on the walk in or out.
- Treed raccoons and night checks. Search a tree once the dogs have one up, or look over a fence line or barnyard.
- Choosing within Guide's line. The TE211M puts the same sensor and lens behind a 1.43-inch touchscreen. The TE421 moves up to a 400 × 300 sensor and a 25 mm lens you focus by hand, rated to detect at 1,300 m (1,400 yd). For a built-in laser rangefinder, see the TD 633L.
Accessories & Compatibility
- Charging. Guide lists its quick charging adapter as optional for the TE211; a USB Type-C cable is in the box.
- Remote and mounts. Guide lists a Bluetooth remote control as optional. The body has a tripod socket, and Guide Thermal USA lists its TE Series helmet mount as compatible with the TE211.
