The PARD Leopard 640 eX 50mm puts a 640 × 512, 12 μm thermal sensor rated at ≤14 mK behind a 50 mm lens at 3.7x, with a 1,000 m laser rangefinder built into the lens. Its 8.8° × 7° field covers about 15.4 m across at 100 m and PARD rates it to detect at 2,600 m, so a distant animal fills more of the 2560 × 2560 OLED display than it does through the 35 mm model. The focus and magnification rings sit on top of the cylindrical aluminum alloy body, which weighs 650.5 g with its battery.
Key Features
- 640 × 512 at ≤14 mK. The Leopard 640 eX uses an uncooled vanadium oxide (VOx) detector with 327,680 pixels at a 12 μm pitch and a 50 Hz frame rate. NETD is the smallest temperature difference the sensor can detect, so a lower figure means a more sensitive device.
- 3.7x and an 8.8° field. The 50 mm objective gives 3.7x optical magnification and an 8.8° × 7° field, about 15.4 m by 12.3 m at 100 m, and it focuses from 5 m to infinity. The 3.7x base magnification is optical; the digital zoom steps of 2x, 4x, 6x and 8x enlarge the pixels at the center of the image, which makes the subject look bigger without adding detail. The Leopard 640 eX 35mm widens the field to 12.5° × 10° at 2.6x, with a 1,800 m detection rating.
- A rangefinder inside the lens. PARD builds the laser rangefinder into the objective lens and rates it to 1,000 m, so the distance reads out without a second device.
- Focus and magnification rings on top. Both rings sit on the top of the body, where they work the same from the left hand or the right.
- 2560 × 2560 OLED eyepiece. The display has 20 mm of eye relief and ±5 diopter adjustment, six image modes (WT-HOT, BK-HOT, H-LIGHT, RD-HOT, IN-HOT and SKY), picture-in-picture and hot track, which PARD designed to keep a moving animal in sight.
- Record, stream and navigate. Photos and video at 1280 × 1280, with sound, save to a microSD card of up to 128 GB, with auto recording, loop recording and time stamps. Wi-Fi connects the monocular to the PardVision2 app, and a compass is built in.
- Power for a long sit. PARD rates the 5000 mAh battery package for up to 7 hours, and the monocular also runs from external power over USB-C.
- Aluminum alloy housing around an all-glass, multi-coated objective lens.
Ideal For
- Open-country hunters glassing pasture and hillsides, where 3.7x shows a distant animal larger than the 2.6x of the 35 mm model, with the distance on the same screen.
- Left-handed users, and anyone who swaps hands on a long watch, since both control rings sit on top.
- Keeping a record of the night, with sound, auto recording and loop recording to a card of up to 128 GB.
