Thermal finds a warm animal in the dark; a camera that sees detail tells you what it is. The PARD Osprey 4K 384 carries both in one binocular: a 384 × 288 thermal channel rated at ≤15 mK and a 4K (3840 × 2160) day and night channel rated to 0.001 lux, with a 1,000 m laser rangefinder and a detachable 850 nm infrared illuminator. Its 35 mm thermal lens gives 4x and a 7.5° × 5.7° field, and PARD rates the thermal channel to detect at 1,800 m.
Key Features
- Thermal channel: 384 × 288 at ≤15 mK. An uncooled vanadium oxide (VOx) detector with 110,592 pixels at a 12 μm pitch, a 50 Hz frame rate and a mechanical shutter, behind a 35 mm lens at 4x with a 7.5° × 5.7° field, about 13.2 m by 9.9 m at 100 m. The Osprey 4K 256 carries a 256 × 192 sensor behind a 25 mm lens, rated to 1,200 m.
- 4K day and night channel. A 3840 × 2160 CMOS sensor with 2 μm pixels, rated to 0.001 lux, sits behind a 50 mm lens at 5.6x with a 6.6° × 3.7° field. PARD fits the night vision channel with optical image stabilization, which shifts the sensor to cancel small movements and hand shake. Digital zoom takes the thermal channel from 4x to 16x and the day and night channel from 5.6x to 22.4x.
- Four ways to view. PARD gives the Osprey 4K four channels: thermal, daytime, night vision and picture-in-picture.
- Detachable 850 nm illuminator. The infrared light reaches 350 m and its head adjusts to keep the beam aligned; take it off to save weight when you don't need it.
- Rangefinder, compass and gyroscope. The laser rangefinder measures to 1,000 m, and an electronic compass and a gyroscope are built in.
- One 1920 × 1080 OLED for both eyes. PARD builds the binocular around a single display, with 18 mm of eye relief, a -5 to +5 diopter, an interpupillary range of 55 to 74 mm, three scene modes (City, Rain and Forest) and seven image modes (WT-HOT, SKY, BK-HOT, RD-HOT, IN-HOT, Green and Red).
- Record and share. Photos and video at 1920 × 1080 save to a microSD card of up to 128 GB, with a microphone and loop recording. Wi-Fi connects to the PardVision2 app, and the firmware can be upgraded.
- Sealed to IP67. PARD rates the binocular for -30 °C to +55 °C (-22 °F to +131 °F) and one 21700 lithium-ion battery for up to 4.5 hours, with external power over USB-C. It weighs 755.5 g.
Ideal For
- Hunters and landowners who need to know what they are looking at, switching from thermal detection to the 4K view.
- Watching wildlife after dark, with the infrared illuminator lighting the scene for the night vision channel.
- Daylight use as well, since the 4K channel works as a daytime camera.
