PARD Pantera 480 50mm Thermal Riflescope with LRF

Hog and coyote hunting at night asks a scope to show the animal through brush, give a distance and keep the controls simple. The PARD Pantera 480 50mm puts a 480 × 360 sensor rated at ≤20 mK behind a round 800 × 800 display with 100 mm of eye relief, and a 1,000 m laser rangefinder with ballistic calculation, on a day-scope tube that mounts in standard 30 mm rings, two of which are in the box. Its 50 mm lens gives 3.3x and a 5° field.

Key Features

• 480 × 360 at ≤20 mK. An uncooled vanadium oxide (VOx) detector with 172,800 pixels at a 12 μm pitch and a 50 Hz frame rate, processed by the PARD IREA engine, which corrects distortion and raises contrast to bring out detail. PARD rates detection at 1,800 m for a person and 2,600 m for a vehicle.
• 3.3x behind 100 mm of eye relief. PARD calls it the Long Eye-relief Display System: the 50 mm lens shows a 5° × 5° view on the round display. The 3.3x base magnification is optical; the 2x, 4x, 6x and 8x digital zoom steps enlarge the pixels at the center of the image, which makes the subject look bigger without adding detail. The diopter runs from -5 to +3. The Pantera 480 35mm gives 2.3x and a wider 7.1° field.
• Rangefinder and ballistic calculation. The laser rangefinder measures to 1,000 m, and the ballistic calculation and image-shift one-shot zeroing are built in.
• Reticles and display modes. Six reticle styles in red, white, yellow or green, six image modes (WT-HOT, BK-HOT, EDGE, RD-HOT, IN-HOT and SKY), three scene modes, picture-in-picture and hot track, all run from a control knob.
• Record the shot. Recoil-activated and loop recording, with a microphone, save photos at 1536 × 1536 and video at 768 × 768 to a microSD card of up to 128 GB. Wi-Fi connects to the PardVision2 app, there is an HDMI output, and a gyroscope and an electronic compass are built in.
• Built for recoil and weather. An aluminum alloy housing sealed to IP67, rated to 6,000 J of recoil and -30 °C to +55 °C (-22 °F to +131 °F). One 18650 battery runs it for up to 5 hours, with external power over USB-C.
