10 inch Solid Tube Dob Review

I really enjoy the solid tube being constructed of metal. While the tube is probably heavier than a fiberglass or resin tube, the metal is sturdy and stiff. Similarly, the metal tube allows you to add weight to portions of the tube for fine balancing via the use of magnets (or magnets attached to a weight bag). I like that this particular scope comes with OTA rings, which makes balancing the OTA in the rocker box assembly quite easy. They also provide a good handhold for carrying the OTA. The rocker box base assembly is of good quality as well. I would have preferred that the teflon pads have that separate the rocker box base from the rotating platform be placed directly over the feet instead of between the feet on the circumference of the rocker base. There can be a issue of "pinch" as the material sags under weight and over time, which will impede the rotation of the box across the azimuth.
