The Alpen Apex 384 54mm Thermal Monocular delivers 384x288 thermal imaging with <40mK NETD sensitivity and a 1,800-meter detection range — providing hunters and wildlife observers with clear thermal vision in complete darkness. The 1280x960 AMOLED display renders crisp detail across 3x to 12x digital zoom, and features like Picture-in-Picture, Hotspot tracking, and Clear+ image processing make it a capable handheld observation tool at 511 grams.
Key Features
- 384x288 thermal sensor with 17µm pixel pitch — <40mK NETD sensitivity detects heat signatures out to 1,800 meters. The 54mm germanium objective lens provides a wide field of view at 3x base magnification
- 1280x960 AMOLED display with six color palettes — High-resolution viewing with White Hot, Black Hot, Red Hot, Rainbow Hot, Red Monochrome, and Yellow Hot modes. The frost-resistant display maintains performance in sub-zero temperatures
- 3x base magnification with 6x and 12x digital zoom — Scan at wide field of view or zoom in for target identification at distance, controlled through a single rotary dial
- Clear+ image processing in 8 levels — Alpen's Clear+ technology uses software algorithms to optimize image sharpness and detail reproduction. Adjustable across 8 intensity levels to match conditions
- Picture-in-Picture and Hotspot tracking — PIP magnifies a portion of the view in a corner overlay without narrowing your overall field of view. Hotspot tracking marks the highest temperature in the scene in real time
- 16GB internal memory with video recording — Capture photos and video, then review directly on the device or export via USB-C. Wi-Fi streaming lets you share your thermal view live on a phone or tablet via the Alpen Thermal companion app
- Exchangeable APP-3500 battery system — Each battery delivers up to 6 hours of runtime. Two APP-3500 batteries are included for 12 hours total. Power-saving mode extends battery life during extended observation sessions. Charge via USB-C
- IPX6 waterproof construction — Rated for heavy rain and splashing water with an operating temperature range of -25°C to +50°C (-13°F to +122°F)
- Tripod-mountable at 511 grams — Standard 1/4" tripod thread for stable, hands-free observation over extended periods. The compact form factor and light weight make it equally practical for handheld scanning
Who It's For
Hunters who need reliable thermal observation for scouting and scanning. The 1,800-meter detection range and 54mm objective provide reach for monitoring wide areas — game fields, fence lines, and tree lines — in complete darkness. Six color palettes let you optimize contrast for your specific terrain.
Wildlife observers and property owners who want thermal vision without the complexity of a riflescope. The handheld form factor, tripod mount, and 12 hours of battery life make it suited to extended observation sessions — monitoring wildlife activity, surveying property, or identifying animals at night.
Hunters upgrading from lower-resolution thermals who want a clearer picture. The 384x288 sensor with <40mK sensitivity and Clear+ processing delivers noticeably sharper target definition than 256-resolution devices, and the 1280x960 AMOLED display makes the difference visible.
