Solar Eclipse Gear: Solar Filters & Telescope Kits – AstroTelescopium

Holiday gift guide: optics gifts by budget

Shipping available to US addresses only

This collection covers solar viewing gear: front-mounted solar filters for telescopes, and telescope kits that include one.

The next total solar eclipse visible from the contiguous US is on August 23, 2044, but the same gear shows partial eclipses and the Sun's surface on any clear day.

Except during the total phase of a total eclipse, never look at the Sun without a proper solar filter. The American Astronomical Society advises that a telescope filter be attached securely over the front of the tube, never at the eyepiece. For how eclipses work, read What are Solar and Lunar Eclipses?
