Athlon Optics Ares G2 UHD 20-60x85 Straight Spotting Scope

Scoring targets at 1,000 yards or judging a bull at a mile requires glass that stays sharp at 60x. The Athlon Ares G2 UHD 20-60x85 Straight delivers apochromatic UHD glass, ESP dielectric-coated BAK-4 prisms, and an 85mm objective in a straight-through body that maintains crisp, high-contrast images across the full 20-60x zoom range.

Key Features

• Apochromatic UHD glass with advanced fully multi-coated lenses — the apochromatic lens system helps converge colors into one focus point, virtually eliminating color fringing at high magnification. XPL protective coating guards against dirt, oil, and scratches
• ESP dielectric coating on BAK-4 prisms reflects over 99% of light through the prism assembly, the same coating technology used in Athlon's flagship Cronus G2 line. The result is bright, high-contrast images with accurate color rendition from 20x through 60x
• 85mm objective lens gathers nearly as much light as an 86mm design, delivering bright images well into dusk and dawn. At 20x the field of view spans 99 feet at 1,000 yards, wide enough for efficient scanning across open terrain
• Straight-body design: the straight eyepiece makes it easier to quickly acquire targets by sighting along the scope body
• 68.9 ounces (4.3 lbs) in an aluminum alloy chassis — lighter than the magnesium-bodied Cronus G2 at 73.5 ounces. Argon purged and fully waterproof with a rotating tripod collar for portrait-to-landscape adjustment
• 19.5-18mm eye relief with twist-up eyecups — generous relief provides a full, comfortable field of view at all magnifications, including for glasses wearers

Ideal For

Hunters who glass open country from a vehicle, blind, or fixed position and want apochromatic UHD glass at a lower price. Like the Cronus G2, the Ares G2 UHD has apochromatic UHD glass and ESP dielectric BAK-4 prisms, with the $200 savings going straight to your tripod or other gear.

Birders and wildlife observers who prefer straight-through viewing for ground-level observation: shorebird flats, marsh hides, or observation blinds where the scope sits at or near eye level. The 85mm aperture and ESP dielectric prisms deliver the color accuracy and brightness that make extended sessions productive.

Prefer an angled eyepiece? The Ares G2 UHD 20-60x85 Angled shares the same optical platform in a 45° angled body, more comfortable for group use and elevated observation. For the ultimate in optical performance, the Cronus G2 UHD 20-60x86 adds a magnesium chassis and wider field of view.
