Athlon Optics Argos G2 UHD 10x42 Binoculars

Extra-low-dispersion glass is the step up from standard HD glass; Athlon says it gives an image with little or no chromatic fringe. The Athlon Argos G2 UHD 10x42 combines extra-low-dispersion glass, ESP dielectric-coated BAK-4 prisms, and an open-bridge design at sub-$300.

Key Features

• Extra-low-dispersion (ED) glass with advanced fully multi-coated lenses reduces chromatic aberration for sharper, more color-accurate images than standard HD glass — noticeable when viewing high-contrast edges like birds against bright sky or game against snow
• ESP dielectric coating on phase-corrected BAK-4 roof prisms reflects over 99% of light through the prism assembly, for bright, color-true images
• Open-bridge magnesium chassis at 25.5 ounces — the open bridge allows a natural, secure one-handed grip and makes the binocular feel lighter and more maneuverable than its weight suggests. Argon purged and fully waterproof
• 10x42 format with a 319-foot field of view at 1,000 yards — enough magnification for evaluating subjects at distance with a field of view that keeps scanning manageable. The 4.2mm exit pupil handles most daylight conditions and extends into early twilight
• 16.1mm eye relief with twist-up eyecups and a wide 56-76mm IPD range — comfortable for glasses wearers and accommodates a broad range of face shapes

Ideal For

Birders and wildlife observers who value ergonomics — the open-bridge grip is comfortable for long walks and quick one-handed acquisitions. The ED glass and ESP dielectric deliver image quality that supports serious bird ID work at a price that doesn't require serious justification.

Hunters who want ED glass and dielectric coatings without the premium price. At sub-$300, the Argos G2 UHD gets you the coating technology and glass quality that matter most for dawn and dusk performance — when you're most likely making shot decisions.

Stepping up? The Midas G2 UHD 10x42 has a wider field of view (341 ft vs 319 ft), closer focus (8.2 ft vs 13 ft), and lighter weight (23.3 oz).
