The Athlon Midas TAC GEN2 UHD 5-30x56 APRS16 keeps everything in mils: a first focal plane mil reticle with 0.2 mil hash marks, matched to 0.1 MIL turret clicks, behind UHD extra-low-dispersion glass and a 56 mm objective.

Key Features

• The APRS16 reticle. Athlon designed it for precision rifle series competition and other long-range shooting where ranging matters. Fine 0.2 mil hash marks run out from center in all four directions, and a 0.05 mil floating dot marks the aim point.
• A holdover tree for wind and leads. Rows of dots widen from 1 mil each side of center at the 1 mil drop line to 4 mils each side at the 10 mil drop line. Small dots fall every 0.2 mil and larger ones every 1 mil, so a combined drop and wind hold lands on a mark.
• First focal plane. The reticle scales with the image, so ranging and holdover values hold at every power from 5x to 30x.
• Tenth-mil turrets. The exposed elevation turret moves 0.1 MIL per click and 10 MIL per turn, with 30 MIL of total travel. Windage is capped and offers 23 MIL. A precision zero stop brings you back to zero against a hard stop.
• UHD glass. Athlon's extra-low-dispersion UHD glass is aimed at an image with little or no chromatic fringe. The lenses are advanced fully multi-coated with XPL protective coating, and the reticle is etched glass and illuminated.
• 56 mm objective, 34 mm tube. At 30x the 56 mm objective gives a 1.87 mm exit pupil (56 ÷ 30), against 1.67 mm from a 50 mm objective at the same power. The one-piece 34 mm tube is aircraft-grade aluminum, argon purged, waterproof, fog proof and shockproof. Side focus parallax runs from 20 yards to infinity.

Ideal For

Shooters who keep their data in mils. One mil is 3.6 inches at 100 yards and 36 inches at 1,000, so a drop chart in inches converts with one division: a 54-inch drop at 500 yards is a 3 mil hold.

Shooters who range with the reticle. Target height in yards × 1,000 ÷ the mil reading gives the distance in yards, and the same formula in meters gives meters. A 1-yard target that spans 2 mils is 500 yards away.
