A 1-6x LPVO needs to do two things well: present a true 1x sight picture for close-range speed, and deliver enough clarity at 6x to confirm targets at 300 yards. The Athlon Midas BTR Gen2 HD 1-6x24 ATSR16 pairs HD glass with the ATSR16 general-purpose MOA holdover reticle in a compact, argon-purged package — a versatile LPVO that handles home defense, 3-gun transitions, and patrol-rifle duty without breaking a four-figure budget.
The ATSR16 reticle centers a 20 MOA illuminated circle around a 4 MOA center cross — the large illuminated ring provides rapid target superimposition at 1x, functioning like an oversized red dot for close-range speed. Beyond the center cross, 2 MOA hash mark increments extend to 30 MOA in all four directions, giving you a clean, readable holdover system for elevation and wind corrections at distance. Because the hash marks use standard MOA increments rather than caliber-specific BDC drops, the ATSR16 works with any cartridge — know your load's trajectory in MOA and hold accordingly. Subtensions are valid at 6x.
Key Features
- HD Glass with Advanced Fully Multi-Coated Lenses — Low-dispersion HD elements reduce chromatic aberration, while the AFMC coating maximizes light transmission for bright, true-color images across the magnification range. XPL protective coating on exterior lenses guards against dirt, oil, and scratches.
- ATSR16 Illuminated Reticle (SFP, MOA) — 20 MOA illuminated circle with 4 MOA center cross for fast close-range acquisition, plus 2 MOA hash marks extending to 30 MOA in all directions for holdover and wind correction. Caliber-agnostic — works with any cartridge using standard MOA holdovers. Subtensions valid at 6x.
- True 1x at the Low End — 108 ft field of view at 100 yards with both-eyes-open shooting capability. The large illuminated circle makes 1x acquisition as fast as a red dot for close-range engagements.
- 18.1 oz, 10.6" Compact Profile — Light and short enough that it disappears on an AR-pattern rifle. The 30mm tube provides a solid mounting platform with widely available ring options.
- Argon Purged — Premium gas purging provides superior fog-proof performance compared to nitrogen, maintaining a clear image through rapid temperature swings.
- Capped Turrets with 0.25 MOA Clicks — Set your zero and forget it. 150 MOA total elevation and windage adjustment provides ample range for zeroing and base corrections.
Ideal For
- Self-defense and home defense shooters who want a true 1x optic with a large illuminated aiming circle for close-range speed, plus magnification for positive target identification at distance — the 20 MOA ring works like an oversized red dot when you need to shoot fast.
- Hunters who want a versatile LPVO with MOA holdover hash marks that work with any cartridge — whether you're running .223, .308, 6.5 Creedmoor, or any other caliber, the 2 MOA increment system lets you hold for drop and wind using your load's known trajectory.
- AR-15 and patrol rifle builders who want an HD-glass LPVO with illuminated reticle at a price point well below the premium European brands — the Midas BTR Gen2 delivers glass quality that punches above its price class.
