The APC 60 ED is for you if…

  • You hike deep into the backcountry and need pro-level optics without the burden of a tripod.
  • You’re a serious birder or wildlife tracker who’s missed sightings because your scope setup took too long.
  • You regularly observe from unstable platforms like boats, safari trucks, or cliff edges where tripods aren’t practical.
  • You’ve used high-end scopes before but found them too heavy, too delicate, or too dependent on external gear.
  • You want a scope that feels like an extension of your own vision—natural, immersive, and stable even at 35x.
  • You value spontaneous exploration over static observation—and you want optics that move as freely as you do.

When you’re deep in the field—hours from the trailhead and moments from spotting a rare species—your gear shouldn’t slow you down. The APC 60 ED is designed for those who move with purpose and demand clarity without compromise. No fumbling with tripods. No second guessing your setup. Just raise, focus, and observe.

This isn’t just about optics—it’s about presence. With the APC 60 ED, you don’t feel like you’re watching from a distance. You feel like you’re there. Whether you’re tracking a golden eagle across a wind-swept ridge or catching the flick of a tail in the brush, this scope becomes an extension of your awareness.

Its field of view—up to 180 feet wide at 1,000 yards—makes it easier to spot and follow movement without constantly adjusting position. And when conditions get low, its twilight factor of 31–45 ensures you’re still seeing fine details well past sunset, when many scopes fall short.

You’ve likely invested in premium glass before. You know image quality matters—but so does timing, agility, and trust in your gear. The APC 60 ED brings it all together in a design built for real-world conditions, not controlled labs. IPX7 waterproofing, fog-proof gas filling, and rugged internals mean it’s ready for alpine mist, coastal salt spray, and sub-zero mornings alike.

With a 2-degree stabilization correction angle, it doesn’t just tame the shakes—it neutralizes them, even if you’re glassing from a boat, a truck, or just after a long hike uphill. That’s precision control you can feel—and rely on.

Designed for real-world conditions, the APC 60 ED puts control at your fingertips with oversized focus and zoom wheels that respond smoothly—even with gloves on. Whether you wear glasses or not, the long 17–18mm eye relief offers a comfortable, strain-free view during extended use. And with an apparent field of view of over 82°, the experience is wide, immersive, and surprisingly cinematic—bringing you closer to nature without leaving your position.

If you’re tired of carrying more gear than you need—or missing the shot while setting up—this is the upgrade your field kit has been waiting for. It’s built to last, too—with a 30-year optical warranty and 5-year electronics coverage, so you can depend on it for decades of discovery.

Kite Optics APC stablized 17-35 ED spotting scope

The scope has nice optics with a clear and flat image that remains bright throughout the mag range. Stabilization is excellent, even at 35x. The kite comes with a nice case and a hand strap that helps prevent accidents while holding. Nice touch. The instrument is very solid and compact at less than 12 inches in length. It also comes with an 18 inch monopod that screws into the under side and is intended as an assist in holding the instrument. I have only used the scope for few days and find the monopod helpful but not a great solution. Instead of using the monopod, I hold the scope by positioning my hand underneath the center while tucking my arms close to my body. The real value of the scope, in my view, is the portability and quick accessibility. I can carry it in its case (using the included strap) thrown over my shoulder with most of the weight on my back. I like to go on nature hikes using my binos for initial observation. Having the spotting scope ready to go with greater mag whenever needed is great. Those ducks across the pond or that hawk sitting on a distant pole are now in close view. No transport and set-up of a tripod. Just grab the scope and use it. The con: the weight. At 46oz I find it is fine for casual observation, but you notice the heft with long, continuous observation. It is not for everybody. My wife struggled to support it with one hand and adjust with the other. Digiscoping with your phone is also an issue. It would be a juggling act positioning the image with one hand while focusing the scope and working the camera with the other. Of course, it can be mounted on a tripod like any other spotting scope, but that defeats the virtue of internal stabilization.
