The Guide Kodiak TK635L 3.0 puts a 640×512 sensor rated at ≤15 mK behind a 35 mm F0.9 objective and in front of a 1.03-inch, 2560×2560 AMOLED display, with a 1,200 m laser rangefinder built into the same handheld body. Its closest relative in our range is the Guide TD 633L, which shares the 640×512 sensor format, the 35 mm aperture and the 1,800 m detection rating. The Kodiak moves to a faster lens (F0.9 against F1.0), a lower noise rating (≤15 mK against ≤20 mK), a display almost three times the diagonal (1.03 inch against 0.36 inch) and a longer rangefinder (1,200 m against 1,000 m); the TD 633L stays the lighter, longer-running choice at 376 g and 10 hours on its battery, against 524 g and 5.5 hours per battery here.
Key Features
- 640×512 sensor at ≤15 mK. The KODIAK 3.0 series runs Guide's ApexVision S1 imaging system: an uncooled VOx detector with 12 μm pixels, refreshed at 50 Hz. NETD is the smallest temperature difference a sensor can tell apart from its own noise, so a lower figure keeps texture visible in a low-contrast scene, such as an animal bedded on ground that has lost the day's heat.
- A wide field from the 35 mm lens. At 2.8x base magnification the TK635L covers 12.5° × 10.0°, about 21.9 m by 17.6 m at 100 m, and Guide rates detection at 1,800 m (1,950 yd). That width is the reason to pick the 35 mm model: it sweeps a tree line or a field edge in fewer passes than the 50 mm Kodiak TK650L, whose field is 8.8° × 7.0°.
- 1.03-inch AMOLED, 2560×2560. The display sits behind 30 mm of eye relief and a -6 to +6 diopter. Choose from seven palettes (White Hot, Black Hot, Amber Sepia, Red Hot, Iron Red, Blue Hot and Green Hot), a cool or warm display tone, a picture-in-picture inset that magnifies the center of the image 2x, and hot-spot tracking that follows the warmest point on screen.
- Ranging without a second device. Hold the down key to measure with the 1,200 m (1,300 yd) laser rangefinder, in single or continuous mode. The readout can add the inclination angle or switch to horizontal distance (marked THD) when you range across a slope, in meters or yards.
- Silent and quick to start. Guide's shutterless design keeps the monocular silent in use, and Guide quotes a 3-second startup.
- Record, stream and update. Photos and video with audio save to 64 GB of internal storage. A dual-band (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) Wi-Fi hotspot streams the live view to Guide's TargetIR app, which also takes photos and video, changes settings and installs firmware updates. Bluetooth connects Guide's optional remote control.
- Two batteries in the box. Each dedicated battery is rated for 5.5 hours, and the TK635L ships with two, which Guide rates at up to 11 hours combined. It charges over USB-C; with tilt-to-sleep on, tipping it 60° or more blanks the display, and timed shutdown (15, 30 or 60 minutes) and a super power-saving mode make a charge go further.
- Built for the field. IP67 sealing, an operating range of -20 °C to 50 °C (-4 °F to 122 °F), a built-in compass, a tripod socket, and a symmetrical body Guide designed for use in either hand, with a physical focus wheel.
Ideal For
- Hunters glassing at close to medium range, in timber, brush and along field edges, where the 12.5° field covers more ground per sweep than a 50 mm lens.
- Anyone who wants the range with the image, from a single unit instead of a thermal and a separate rangefinder.
- Hunters who keep a record, with video and audio saved on the device or streamed to a phone.
- Eyeglass wearers, since 30 mm of eye relief leaves room behind the eyecup.
Accessories & Compatibility
The TK635L runs on Guide's dedicated rechargeable battery and charges over USB-C from the included 5V 2A adapter, which comes with four plug adapters. Guide offers a spare battery and the Bluetooth remote control as optional accessories. The TargetIR app is available for Android and iOS.
