In a slightly brightened sky, Explore Scientific notes, the Cirrus Nebula (NGC 6992) is practically invisible in a 200mm telescope, and with this filter its nebulosity and structure show without trouble. The Explore Scientific O-III filter lets through only the two emission lines of oxygen, in a 6.5 nm passband, and absorbs almost all artificial light.
Key Features
- Oxygen emission lines only. Passes the two O-III lines and absorbs the other emission lines.
- 6.5 nm passband. A narrow-band design for difficult city conditions; Explore Scientific says it brings out faint emission nebulae there, or makes them visible in the first place.
- For the eyepiece and the camera. Explore Scientific makes it for visual observers and for astrophotography.
- Individual test report with each filter.
- Size. 2-inch (50.8 mm).
Ideal For
- Urban and suburban observers after faint emission nebulae such as the Cirrus Nebula, under a brightened sky.
- Astrophotographers adding an oxygen channel with a 2-inch filter.
Accessories & Compatibility
Explore Scientific's other 2-inch narrowband filters include the H-Alpha 7nm and the S-II 6.5nm.
