From a city or suburban backyard, light from streetlights brightens the sky and buries the faint red emission nebulae a camera could otherwise record. The Explore Scientific H-Alpha filter's 7 nm passband lets only hydrogen's emission line through, blocking almost all artificial light, mercury and sodium vapor lamps included, so many of those nebulae appear in full extent on the image.
Key Features
- 7 nm narrowband passband at the hydrogen-alpha line, 656.3 nm.
- Blocks almost all artificial light, including mercury and sodium vapor lamps.
- Individual test report supplied with each filter.
- For photography only. Explore Scientific developed it for astrophotography; it is not for visual use.
Ideal For
- Urban and suburban astrophotographers under brightened skies, the conditions Explore Scientific designed this narrowband filter for.
- Emission nebula imagers working on hydrogen-alpha targets such as the Horsehead, Rosette and North America nebulae.
